Vacation Bible School
What a great summer season it has been!!! When the Lord's children come together great things happen! We had the blessed experience of sharing VBS with the Broad Street United Methodist Church and then had our own VBS here at First Baptist. We averaged between twenty-three and thirty children every night and everyone had a wonderful time. Children from the Methodist Church and the City of Refuge joined our children in the "Lord's Luau"! The week began with the Triumphal Entry and ended with the celebration and sharing of the Lord's Supper. We also challenged the children to collect fifty canned goods to present to the "In His Care" ministry. When we come together on Tuesday evening the children had already collected forty two cans, so we increased the amount to one hundred. When the week came to its end, the children had collected over one hundred and twenty cans, AWESOME SAUCE!!!!! For their effort they enjoyed shooting Pastor Kevin with mini marshmallows, what a blast!
We had the opportunity to see the Lord move in many different ways! We were so blessed to have so much help. I would like to give my thanks and appreciation to Mrs. Eleanor Newman, Marsha Rodan, Shannon Gurdgiel, Gina Rich, Deborah and George Viereck, Scott Lopert, Bill Lucas (UMC), Marge Hoffman (UMC), Betsy Grover (UMC), Amanda Mackie (COR), Brianna Marshall, Sami Maver, Robin Littlewood, Bob and Carol Wagoner, Karen Dubell, Diana Ireland, Martha Lee Lowe and Pastor Kevin Lowe. These events are a blessing but are also very demanding of time and effort, thank you all for giving so freely of yourselves! I would also like to thank the church as a whole for our support in giving us the opportunity for this outreach!
